Lovingly nickenamed
“Abuelo” (Grandpa), this Cocker approximately
12 years old was found stray near our home. We took him in and with
the help of Dr. Roger Alfaro, hoped to find his owners. Unfortunately
these never showed up albeit all our efforts to locate them.
Grandpa was adopted
by a great friend of ours, so that his remaining years are to be
spent away from the dangers and mistreatment of street life. We
check on him regularly.
THIS
JUST IN¡¡¡: Grandpa,
even with the years on his back, low energy and typical pains of
his age has managed to impregnate his housemate (a mix breed of
Maltes and Pekinesse). Two cute live puppies were born… although
it is still not clear to whom they bear resemblance.

Temporarily named
“Orejona” (Big ears), this Basset Hound
aprox. 4 years old was found and helped by us near my office. It
has a few weeks astray, according to the neighbors and had been
helped and sent back to the street at least once before.
Temptation to keep
her was great given her age and sweet character. Nonetheless after
3 days with her we took her to the adoption center. This was not
a pleasant experience: first for leaving “Orejona” and
by the despicable service that the employees gave us, even when
we repeatedly told them that she was not our dog and that we were
trying to help her. After a few days there we learned that she had
been adopted to live in a farm with another Basset. We trust he
is fine.

La Negra
(Blacky) was picked up from the street temporarily by a neighbor
so that she could give birth. We supported the effort y helped out
with the feeding. Blacky being used to the hard life of the street,
our main concerns were with the puppies. We took care of their immunizations
and that responsible families adopted the majority of them.
Albeit our best efforts,
some of the puppies had to be taken to a dog shelter so that there
they could find a home to keep them. Sadly, a few days after this
Blacky was killed by a car.

"Nahomi"
is our most recent rescue. We found her on our way to work, astray
on the street, with heatstroke and very disoriented. She is a Newfoundland
bitch, about 2.5 years old and with 115 pound. She has a commanding
presence but has heart on her sleeve and extrudes loving kindness.
She spent three days
with us, sharing the house with Sabandija, tolerating her at first
and then getting and playing along a lot at the end, albeit a monumental
difference in size and weight.
Luckily, her owner
was found quickly and Nahomi returned home safely.
